Injustice Done to Scout

There was injustice done to Scout when her cousin, Francis, Had been calling her father a nigger lover. She got really upset when he kept on saying it until she couldn’t handle it anymore. She gave her cousin a hit that he would never forget. Everybody in the house came out and looked at the inured boy. Immediately Francis started blaming everything on Scout. She was cornered and was spanked by her uncle. After this Atticus took Scout and Jem home. Later Her uncle arrived and tried to talk to her. She told him that he didn’t know the other half of the story. Her uncle looked at her in a weird face. “Francis was calling my daddy a nigger lover and even though I didn’t know what he meant the tone in his voice told me he was picking on my father,” said Scout. The uncle looked at her and said is that why you punched him she nodded her head. Later that night when Scout went to get a glass of water she heard her father talking to her uncle and was talking about how Scout needed to keep her head up in these times and try to not let her pride get her. When Atticus all of a sudden said, “Scout get to bed” she knew something was up. Later she realized that he in intended for her to hear the conversation.

The Ewells and The Cunninghams

The only thing I see in common between these two families is that they're both poor. The Ewells live next to the dump which is right next to where the African Americans live. The Cunninghams live in the countryside. Mr. Ewell does not provide for his family but Mr. Cunningham does. Mr. Ewell's children have no respect for anybody. The Cunninghams are kind. The Ewell family does not have a house. The Cunninghams have a house. Mr. Ewell and his family are disgusting just to look at. The Cunninghams are as clean as you'd expect farm kids to be. Mr. Ewell buys stuff for himself. Mr. Cunningham uses the little money he has and puts it into food or tools needed for the farm. The Ewells are not trusted. The Cunninghams are trustworthy.

Tom and Plans

So Huck and Tom know where Jim is but what complicates things is that Tom isn't fine with breaking Jim out the easy way. Tom comes up with these crazy ideas about having Jim dig his way to China or make a moat around his cabin or have him tame a rattlesnake but it never ocurs to Tom that doing things the easy way makes things a whole lot easier. What would seem easy to me is to finish digging the hole they were digging and  get Jim out, take the raft and head down river. It's either I missed something or they don't do the plain and simple.

Two Escapes

Huck had a more ingenious plan than Jim’s. Both Huck and Jim escaped at evening. Both escaped on the same night. Both escaped when the adult or owner was gone. Huck escaped by canoe, Jim escaped by foot. Huck brought food but Jim couldn’t. Huck was looked for more than the Jim was because people were more worried about Huck than Jim.

Huck escaped from imprisonment while Jim escaped from slavery. Huck ran away to be free from is drunken father but Jim ran away in fear of being sold.

What is Boy Scouts all about?

I was reading Eli's post about Huck and Boy Scouts and I agree with him that Huck would have to work on the scout law. I would like to go further with this thought.
 I have come to learn from my Scout Master, Mr. Mason, that boy scouts is not only to learn about the law, oath, and how to survive, but to learn to become Godly men and leaders.
How does the scout law and oath help us to be godly men? The scout law asks us to be reverent both in our own faith and to be respectful of others' faith. In the oath it says to do my duty to God which is to obey him in everything.
How does scouting help us to be leaders? The scout law says a scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, and brave. You couldn't be a leader without being these things. The oath says to do my duty to country, to help other people at all times, and to keep yourself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight. If you don't do these things nobody's going to follow you.

Huck and Dress Up

I think it was a good idea for Huck to dress up like a girl and try to find out what was going on in town. I also thought it was interesting that Mrs. Judith Loftus figured out he was a boy by watching him sew, shoot the gun, and constantly change his name. What really made me interested was that same night Mrs. Judith's husband and another man went to go look for Jim.

Jim and Superstition

Jim is a superstious guy. When Jim saw a bird act a certain way he knew it was going to rain. So instead of telling Huck the bird's say it's going to rain by the way it's acting he says a bird told him it was going to rain. When Huck picked up a snake skin Jim said it was bad to do it. A couple nights later as Huck was going to bed he saw a rattlesnake and killed it and left it by Jim's bed. Later that night Jim got bit by the dead snake's mate. Jim said he got bit because of Huck holding the snake skin, but Huck knew that when you kill a snake in mating season it's mate comes and curls up next to it's dead mate.
